An old friend of mine, who I haven't seen or heard from in all most 8 years contacted me by email yesterday.  He said that he found my web site and thought that I was very courageous doing what I am doing.  He didn't exactly say that he supported me, but he did give me an up-date on himself, and gave me is home email address so that i might email him.  I was quite surprised that he contacted me and I sent off a long reply back, detailing my transition.  Hopefully he will reply in kind.

It just goes to show that it is pretty hard to hide your past or present situations :)

It's a little spooky sometimes, isn't it? I'm dealing with that issue myself right now; obviously Annie Social isn't my real name, and I try to be careful about where I post links that connect it to me, but you can't isolate yourself completely. Anyone on this board could follow a few links and find my name (not my old name as a  male, of course; that would be a bit harder), and I'm not sure that I would want that to be any different.

If someone plans on going deep stealth, they need to be really careful. In my case, I can't imagine ever being 100% passable, so I've made the decision to be somewhat open about the whole thing.

But it's still a bit scary.

I had a similar experience. Seemed at first to be a ok experience. Then he didnt e-mail me back.  Hope yours was ok.

Well maybe it wasnt too much of a change but we hadnt been writing before.

So true Stephanie.

I was somewhat famous in my hometown for a variety of reasons growing up , one of which was for having run away from home. It made the news and everything in our rather small town.

A few months back, someone contacted me who I couldn't remember for the life of me, but they swore they knew me. They sure knew people I knew.

Yes, it can be scary, but it's kind of exciting at the same time.
