South by Southwest abuzz with gay fever
http://www.washblade.com/blog/index.cfm?blog_id=16939One of the granddaddies of festivals that "discover" emerging musicians and industry trends is the South by Southwest concert, film and interactive festival held each March in Austin, Tex. This year's conferences, concerts and shows take place March 12-16.
Known as a star-maker since its 1987 inception, South by Southwest is entertaining early buzz this year that gay musicians could become the hot commodities at the 2008 festival. There will even be a first-ever queer musicians showcase, in which eight queer performers will take two stages at a special free concert in addition to their individual performances as part of the festival.
