California Schools: Sliding Down the Slope to Indoctrination?

During World War II, my mother, at the time in elementary school, was sent to boarding school in Czechoslovakia when it became too dangerous to live in Vienna.  In class one day, the teacher asked "Whom do you hate the most?"  My mom raised her hand, planning to say "Hitler".  Mom wasn't called on, but a good friend of hers was.  The other little girl said "Hitler"; my mother never saw that little girl again, although Mom kept her friend's photo with her until she died a couple of years ago.

No one in America would believe that this could happen here; but if it happened in Europe, we would be naïve to think it impossible.  What concerns me is that I see the slippery slope of indoctrination not only beginning, but continuing, in the American school system – the same slope that so many slid down to rock bottom in Europe – and I will therefore fight to the death my right to home school.

If ignorance is bliss these folks ought to be mighty happy.  What drivel.

QuoteWith all their degrees and training, our government school teachers are supposed to be the best and the brightest.  Yet their self righteous arrogance is apparent in their attempts to shut down the home school, fearing that their NEA-protected jobs are threatened by parents who turn out better educated, emotionally stable graduates from home schooling.

I think that the author should take a time out for some introspection.  I agree with you Tekla... it is drivel.  I sincerely wish that we could add science to the "three R's" so that we have 4 required subjects students should master in schools.

Here's another quote from the piece that is most interesting:

QuoteThe religion of global warming continues to be taught in our government schools as fact, although much of the claims have been proven time after time to be false or misleading.  In scare tactics that are guaranteed to horrify the unsuspecting school child, the NEA's website, under its Global Warming 101 lesson plan, begins:  "Bring your students to the frontlines of climate change in the Arctic where glaciers are melting, polar bears are drowning, and Inuit villagers are struggling to survive...."

But... the glaciers ARE melting, the polar bears ARE dying, and the Inuit villagers ARE struggling to survive!  These people cover their eyes and ears yet yell through megaphones.  I sincerely wish that they would take this opportunity to drop every convenience that science offers them... including medical care.  We woulnd't have to worry about them in a decade or so if they would.

Oh don't confuse them with the truth.  Some of them are still teaching that the sun goes round the Earth.
