SRS with Suporn

Hi everyone I have now booked my SRS for november with Dr Suporn! I have everything organised and I must say...its a really strange feeling to have a firm date for finally getting there you know? It always feels like forever and you're not getting anywhere, and now there's a date it makes everything so much more real! Crazy haha!

Any other Suporn girls out there? Did you enjoy your overall experience? Are you happy with your results? You're own experiences are welcome please

Finally a question to anyone who has had SRS, how much time did you take off of work? I'm still not sure how much to take...Ill be in Thailand a month, and I was thinking of taking another week off when I came back, so that I'd of had 5 weeks rest post op. Does that sound realistic? I really have no idea how fast you become mobile and able again, it seems alot of people heal REALLY differently in this case?

Your mileage may very but with dilation and slow healing I would not want to go to work for 6 months.

5 weeks! Heck, no!

People vary greatly in recuperative power and how the surgery works out.
I think that 6 weeks is about the absolute minimum, 8 weeks is better.
If you can hold off until your dilation schedule is twice daily (maybe 3 months), life will be easier.

It also depends on what your work is and how you've healed.
You shouldn't be doing any heavy lifting for as long as you can hold out.
Standing may be easier than sitting, or vice versa.

I went back to work at seven weeks post op after my little holiday in Chonburi.

Did I enjoy it?  No its not my idea  of fun and I don't like being around a lot of trans people but it really wasn't a big deal. The standard of care was much superior to anything I could have recieved in the UK or North America.

Am I happy with the results? You bet, he really does do some fantastic work.

I really don't understand how anyone could afford to take three or six months of work. One woman I was with from Japan was going back to work at 4 weeks.

So LondonBridge, you want to become part of my list do you?   

I am thinking of Thailand myself, but with Dr. Greechart.  I was thinking of staying a couple of weeks and return home for a month.  The only thing I see as a problem is that it is 20-25 hours in the air.  Dilating in the bathroom might be problematic.

I would ask the doctor for a light duty slip for my employer, as I do not lift anything that heavy.

And if you join my list it is a good thing.  One day I will join my own list.

Firstly congrats LondonBridge,

I had SRS with Dr Suporn in 2002, extremely satisfied in both the results and the whole experience in Chonburi. Facilities second to none and staff who are caring, understanding and totally dedicated to you.

I left Thailand 4 weeks after my surgery and had a further 4 weeks off before returning to work. This figure needs to depend on you, how your body feels and how you feel prepared both physically and mentally. It depends on the type of job you do and how physical it may be.

For the first few months, dilation will rule your life and this can make things difficult and time consuming. My advice is simply dont set any hard and fast timetable, just listen to what your body tells you.

Good luck London Bridge!  And I feel the same, it's utterly a strange feeling once the date is confirmed.  I did so last week.  Like a finality, and realization of a long time goal, a strange peace settling over, but a wish to do it tomorrow and move onward, now that a date is set, if only reality would allow it!

My choice was Suporn by a really long way but they are all fine surgeons, well the names mostly mentioned ofc

Ill be over there in Nov 26 for FFS and pre booked for SRS in July 10
Its hard to make a choice but the Suporn Clinic has the reputation for good surgery

I'll be having BA, TCR and SRS (three Birdies with one stone!) on July the 28th. I'm hoping that I'll be well enough afterwards to write a blog about the whole adventure. Reading the blogs of other patients was really helpful in preparing myself and deciding which surgeon to choose, so hopefully if I write a blog it will be helpful too.

I had ffs in november 08, and well! yes time is flying! .. november will come very fast!
