Trans and intersex - a forced marriage of inconvenience?

http://sizeofacow.wordpress.com/2008/03/20/trans-and-intersex-a-forced-marriage-of-inconvenience/Almost entirely gratuitous footage there of the only man (apart from Rufus Wainwright) that I'd consider turning for. If you're reading Mozzer/Rufus I look a bit like the woman in the black t shirt in the video below. Anyway I digress.
You know I sometimes have to keep reminding myself that I don't have a down on people who've had gender reassignment or identify as transgendered. Because believe it or not I don't. What I do have a problem with is firstly some of the politics of transsexual mediciine, and secondly a very, very small minority of activists who certainly don't seem to represent the in real life trans people I've met in any way, shape or form. Apart from anything else the IRL people have a sense of humour - and yes they roar with laughter at Emily Howard on Little Britain. But needless to say most of these activists seem to think themselves entitled to speak not just on behalf of themselves, but everybody who they deem to be part of their "community".
