Religion: I am a Radical Reform Jew, emphasizing social justice over ritual. I twice applied to rabbinic seminary and was twice rejected for my poor Hebrew. My wife (ENFJ) will finish seminary in about a year, if God is willing. We are deeply involved in local interfaith efforts.

That's fascinating Simone! I'm also Jewish, another radical social justice type, and over the past few years have occasionally fantasized becoming a cantor. If I did that I'd likely be among the first trans cantors  ;D Only one problem, I dropped out of Hebrew school at 12, and haven't really studied it since... Then there's the matter of my voice, much better at singing blues than cantorial style  ::)

We had 3 rabbits in our dining room for 10 years (as pets, not food). Chocolate is good.

Simone

I'm as religious as the AAAS (which is to say, I'm agnostic, not atheist - and there is a big difference), and politically slightly to the left of Abbie Hoffman.  Though I find myself very fiscally conservative, if only because "giving governments money is like giving a 16 year old a bottle of whiskey and the keys to the family car." (P.J. O'Rourke)  I favor individual choice, without public funding, or public funding with public voting.  Either way.

I was trained as a physicist, worked at a national lab doing high energy research, and spend most of my life with rock bands, any of which would lead me to doubt the existence of god (as defined here on earth), the combination of them, made it certain.

I am anti-war, anti-death penalty (I'm willing to make an exception for Bush and Cheney when we try them for treason during time of war) pro-choice, and anti-car.  Though lately we've all been obsessed with stopping the Olympic Torch when it goes through SF on its way to China.

me too except for deathing bush/cheney.  I think they should be held in a place where for 12 hours a day, people can come in and tell them what they think of them.

I thought the same for saddam.  Stick him in a cell with one absolute clear wall all day and let people come in and tell him what he did to their loved ones over a PA system so he couldn't block their voices.

I know they would not repent, but i think it would be hard on them.

There's a school near Boston and another just outside Philadelphia that have extensive catalogs of online Jewish courses. Their students are spread worldwide, have a variety of backgrounds, and span the various movements. That'd let you catch up on you studies, though singing courses would probably need to be done in person. These days there's a variety of cantorial styles, and G&L cantors are becoming more common, so why not trans? You could be chaplain to the Androgyne Empire! Send me a message if you want the schools' urls.

Keep stretching,

Are you interested in the opening for poet-laureate? The stipend might get you out from behind the bar.

And a boldly colored tunic. You may want the velvet one. The great hall is heated only by the smoky fire burning below the hole in the ceiling.

Pfft.  Hilarious.

May I accompany The Purple Tunic (aka Z :P) with the tambourine?
