"Beatie was born a woman, biologically, but decided to go through gender reassignment. He took testosterone and had his breasts removed, but kept his vagina. He and his partner decided to have a baby, she couldn't, and so he went off his testosterone injections and became pregnant. In a personal
essay in the Advocate, Beatie described the difficulty he had in
getting a doctor treat him. It seems ob/gyns find pregnant men icky."
