It's been spring in London since like January. All the trees in full bloom, the hibernators are out and about, that nice coolness in the morning warming up...

And today it's snowing.

All those poor little hibernators are gonna freeze their little butts off.

You know. I'm usually quite jaded and cynical and stuff, but today this little South African girl is entranced.

Yes here in Vancouver spring started at the end of January and yes everything is beginning to bloom here to. I never lived in a place before that has no winter like this except Florida and in the flat land of eastern Tennessee. They call the forests here Rain Forests. Well many of the plant shrubs and small trees keep there leaves all winter. And this little summer song birds are out as well. Me hibernate? I doubt it, I can't sit still for any longer then five minute. The nice thing is I don't have to stay cooped up here all winter like when I lived in Ontario Can.

It snowed this evening, but there were crocuses last week. I always thought growing up on the east coast that snow on spring blossoms was one of the most beautiful fleeting things. But it happens so often here that when mid-March comes around I wish the snow to stop.

The litany of Spring was one of my great joys in childhood. Forsythia cuttings blooming indoors in January, snow drops in March pushing up through the frozen soil, then the first crocuses, and then the visual cacophony of hyacinth, tulips, daffodils, apple trees, vinca, forget-me-nots, lily-of-the-valley. Here Spring lasts about a week, then it snows and all the flowers die, and then it's summer.

I'm not complaining -- just reminiscing. There is no earthly paradise; denn wir haben hie keine bleibende stadt. The West has sublime wonders I never imagined as a child, but I will never forget New England's intimite beauty I came to love.
All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.

The last time I actually saw it snowing, I was three. That's what my mom says anyway. I can't remember any of it. We were still living just West of Johannesburg at the time, and as my mom recalls, I was running from window to window, squeeling in glee. Apparently I kept a handful of snow in the freezer for over a month, and I would go and stare at it every day. I wish I could remember that.

But new memories. This morning, I was again running from window to window, just like back then.

That sounds like the England I know and love.

Easter, snow and I bet the lambing season has begun!

Today I am working from home and had to move inside as the temperature was 35C at mid day. My Easter Eggs are now in the refridgerator.

70 (F) and very sunny in Sonoma today, everything is blooming, and I'm going out to shoot flowers later.

Hi Lady Amarant, running from window to window like a little kid, I still do sometimes, like a kid on Christmas morning. I am easily excitable and it keeps Wing Walker entertained, especially with my often  spontaneous giggles to be sure. I don't have an aggressive or mean bone in my body, I love clowning around and laughing. I love making people laugh to. I guess that is one reason I get along well with almost anyone. Just don't let yourself get old. hon, enjoy every second.  Just don't hold it in, share what you feel inside with others, whether it be a chuckle or a tear :D

Glad you're enjoying the snow. We still have a couple of feet of snow on the ground here in New England   and it's very cold :(

Indeed it is so beautiful today in San Francisco.  The sun has been shining all day and the winds are not too strong which is odd.  You can already smell the Spring Season in the air...
