Labia?

Purple Pimp

Hi all,

First, a big "thank you" to all of you who participate in these forums; I hope to contribute as well, as our community has its best friend in knowledge.

I wanted to put a question out there that might be rather difficult to answer.  I've been on HRT for nearly a year now and looking at surgical options.  As someone on this forum has remarked, it seems like so many SRS results have odd anatomy, with the labia minora not descending far enough to encircle the vaginal entry.  Is this simply not possible given today's technology, or is there something I'm missing here?  With the exception of the results Suporn has chosen for his website, it seems to be a common trait of neovaginas (one might think that it's a Thai problem, but even most of the SRS results on Bower's page seem to suffer from vagina-outside-of-the-inner-labia syndrome).

Clearly, the vagina is supposed to be within the same "ring" as the urethra and other structures.  But, again, when we look at annelawrence.com/brassard0201.html by Brassard, one would think that the vaginal vestibule is found underneath some kind of "ring" that encircles clitoris and urethra.

So, if I may ask, what kind of experiences have you ladies out there had with your surgeons?  Does anyone know of the reason for this quirk, or why even the best of the SRS surgeons seem to do it?  Of course, for functionality it probably doesn't matter, but aesthetically speaking, I'm not sure what to make of it.

I really appreciate anyone's ideas.

Hmmm...I wouldn't call it an odd result.  According to my mom, and she has had five children, my vagina is as normal as any other woman's vulva and I haven't had labiaplasty yet.  I do plan to have it sometime next year but not because I actually need it but because of cosmetic purposes.  I am extremely satisfied with Dr. Meltzer's work's first stage operation.  IMO, not too many women who have gone to him will consider a labiaplasty, :)

I too was very concerned about how mine would appear prior to surgery.  Back in the 80's, very little information was available and I was really only able to see the results of two operations from other people who chose to share their results with me.

I was so naive that I didn't even have any real experience with natal females to know what they should look like.

In my life since my operation, this has never been an issue.  I've not really had the opportunity to show and tell with anyone.  (Except for with my father... I showed him to prove that I had indeed gone through with it).

Since transition, the quality of my vagina has been a non existant mark on my list of things to worry about.  I don't look at it more than once a year.  And no one else ever looks at it.

However, with that said, I believe that the quality of work being done by the good surgeons is very good.  It falls well within what is considered normal.

Only my best friend and aunt has seen me and both are GG women. They would not lie to me. Both have said it is a replica or theirs. I will take their word for it. Bowers does a wonderful job. I have no complaints so far.

And let's remember that female genitalia varies enormously. Probably can't find two alike. I haven't seen any surgery results up close and personal yet, but I doubt a neovagina from a good surgeon would stick out as 'odd', given the variety natal ones come in. Botched results are  of course, another story.

I don't show mine off as well. I have been in the showers at local gyms and no one even notices any difference and I have been to a couple of doctors and Gyno. and they all have said, looks normal. I am post op about 4 years and and had my surgery in Thailand.

Everyone looks a bit different same as for gg's and genetic males. Genitals vary from individual to individual. I may someday have a secondary op just for a little tweaking of my inner lips. But it's not a consideration for anything other then a slight cosmetic change seeing as I had my own preconcieved notion of what I think looks best in a vagina (and the main srs surgeons fall within the normal range of normal it seems). I've had (uhhoh I have no clue how many) gg's, genetic males, dr's, nurses (inclusive of other surgeons srs nurses and assitants), sex partners, strangers, people from tg groups and viewers online all of which say it looks normal down there. So to shorten this post I'll finish by saying that there is a lot of variation in "normal".

There you go Jessica G has it in a nutshell for me for before I went for SRS, I'm happy with my results and it all was from the fact that I got more then just a hole.

I have had a few up close and personal observers down there since I began having sex again and everyone apparently thinks it's perfect.

Everyone is different. Personally, I've only seen surgeries done by Dr. Brassard up close and personal. Two, actually (erm, or was it three -- lost count). I've also seen the results for FtM, and I forget what the surgery was called, but he was big and they had to cut skin from his forearm. But yeah, of the post-op people, they were all different. As for natal girls, they have all been different in my personal experience. I don't worry as much, as long as it's not botched or something goes wrong, things should turn out fine. In surgery, I hear a lot of it depends on the material you have to work with down there, and a few other factors (like how tall you are -- I don't know why, but one post-op friend mentioned her height came into play with Dr.Brassard, and she's also uber skinny, so that played into the surgery as well).

Kunaporn girl...well, quite a few people have seen mine :) No complaints yet, in fact, one guy said that I had a pretty one. Well, he said everything about me was beautiful.

Mine only really looked normal after labiaplasty, I remember at the time I had a lot of stitches but when I was fully healed my Mam said my vulva looked exactly like any other woman, well I took her at her word, it was only a few years after that when a guy I was dating at the time, said I looked awesome down there lol, I was on cloud9 for a week, complements are worth their weight in gold, I thought it was a super sweet thing to say to me at the time.
If your going thru hell, just keep going.

So the Thai surgeons are just as good as the American ones?
