Today I heard of lawsuits targeting the manufacturers of hormone replacement therapy medications. I think that medical lawsuits have gone too far. No drug is without adverse effects when either taken in too large a dose, or in a small subset of the population which is allergic to it. The same is clearly evident in food and other products. Some people die if they eat peanuts so they know to avoid them. We do not sue the farmers who grow them or the stores which sell them. Some people will get ill from a medication which may help the majority of the population. Does this mean the majority should be denied the benefits because it can not be taken by 100% of the population? Not on your life and certainly not on mine If I had to make a choice between possible or definite ill effects from Premarin or other medications would I refuse to take it? Not in the slightest. I would and do study the drug and fully understand the pro's and con's. I accept the risk when I take my first dose.
