UNIVERSITY PARK — Jeffrey Solomon's mother wanted grandchildren.

He was a young adult and living life, but his mom was impatient for offspring. "Enough already," she told him. "You're 24 years old." "Don't hold your breath," he answered.

Solomon, now a playwright and Emmy nominee, is gay. His mom didn't know that, he told a rally crowd gathered Wednesday outside Old Main.
