Action Alert!  Fight for the Right of The 2nd Annual Trans Day of Action
to March & Rally on 8th Avenue!

The New York City Police Department and the City of New York are attempting to deny TransJustice's applications to march and rally on 8th Avenue.  On June 6th, during a meeting at Manhattan South, NYPD Assistant Chief Bruce Smolka, made an anti-LGBT remark when he told TransJustice members, "to Go Back to The Village" and that a 5:00pm rally at 42nd Street & 8th Avenue would not be allowed.

TransJustice called the rally at 42nd Street  & 8th Avenue to address the growing violence and murders of Trans People. The rally will also be used to commemorate the 6th year anniversary of Amanda Milan, a 25 year-old African-American transgender woman, who was brutally murdered, on June 20, 2000, in the middle of an intersection near Port Authority Bus Terminal as onlookers cheered.

Sample Letter:

"The (individual or organizational name) believes the constitutional right of Trans and Gender

Nonconforming people of color and their allies to march and rally on 8th Avenue, between 27th to 42nd streets, on Friday, June 23rd as part of the Trans Day of Action for Social and Economic Justice. 8th Avenue has special significance for the LGBT community in New York City. It has historically been a place where many of our organizations are based. Our community works, resides, and accesses supportive services. On the eve, of Manhattan LGBT Pride Weekend, we feel it would be a grave error to deny any of the sound, park or parade permits of TransJustice, and urge the City of New York and New York City Police to approve their applications to march and rally."
"But who is that on the other side of you?"
