Well, looks like there are a lot more lefties here than in the rest of the population. Granted it's a small sample, but we're still at about 33% as opposed to 11 or 12% in the general population. Hehe ... just goes to show, we really are touched by the evils of the left-hand path!

I hear she's working on recruiting. ;)

I know that when I was in kindergarten and first grade I started using my left hand. The teacher said that I should use my right and told me to use my right that was also past on to my mom who enforced the issue as she told me that you wouldn't amount to much if you are a lefty. Nothing will fit.
Sheila

I had a similar experience, except I would write with both hands equally.  My teacher eventually got irritated enough that she made me choose.  I picked my left.  Owing to a lack of lefty scissors in school, I now prefer my right hand for scissors and most other activities.  Activities like bowling are fun because I can't figure out which hand I'm supposed to use.  I suck equally with either.  :)

same... kinda started out left handed... mom keep getting me to be right handed. test in kindergarten showed that i was ambidextrous... ended up growing up right handed.  started to take art seriously and was practicing drawing with my left hand to work the right side of my brain... mom saw me practicing  and reminded me of my early left handedness... she felt bad that she had encouraged me to be right handed. now i can use both equally as well, except for throwing things... lol.

i have noticed a difference with drawing as well. right handed is more technical, left is more creative..

Lefty for just about everything here, although I can do some things with my right, but not nearly as well

Anonymouse posted this link in another topic today about a study of index to ring
finger lengths. The study found MTF to be right handed 74% of the time and the
control group of males to be right handed in 95% of the cases.

I'm a righty, which is unusual for me because I have some mental conditions which are strongly associated with left-handedness.

Well I write Right handed, but do most everything else left handed.  Ok I'm weird.

I dont know how meny of you know this but a few decades ago a common name for a left handed person was a, "South Paw."
I dont know about you but i like the sound of that name.

I'm right handed for writing, but pretty much ambidextrous for doing most things.  I've always had very neat writing, and never written like a guy.

This is weird... I eat and write left handed, but with everything else I am right handed. My Dear Mother sat across from me to teach me to eat and write my name, and she can't tell her left from her right. She is right handed, so go figure! I have tried to eat with my right hand, and I drop the food. I have tried to write right handed, and it's so sloppy no one can read it.
Of course, Mom is the one that taught me to pee sitting down, so I blame her for me being Trans.

I'm left-handed for writing, but nothing else... except using a computer mouse.

But I'm actually really proud of my handwriting. One time someone looked at it who'd studied graphology, gave me a really quizzical look, and when I asked what was wrong he said that I should technically be a woman with the way I write.

I said nothing but smiled inwardly.

Similar for me, except that when I was programming Macs I had two machines, a Mac and a PC, and I used one hand for each mouse.

And that's a curious thing because when Ellie was here we went to a new GLBT bar called Innuendo.  When I went to the restroom, it looked so familiar that I started looking around.  I went and got her and told her, "When I worked in this building my desk was right there!"  And the Mac was on the left and the PC was on the right.

Lefty here. I think my mom sorta tried to get me to use my right hand when I was little but being the perpetually stubborn person I am, she gave up.

I write and eat with my left hand, and sometimes do other things with it, but what I do varies and sometimes I switch it up. I tried writing with my right hand once and it turned out awful. I also tried inverting the button controls for the mouse and using it in my left hand but that was a failed attempt; I was just too used to the right hand use.

If I practiced long enough with some stuff I could probably become used to using my left hand for it, but I'd rather just leave things the way they were.

I'm right-handed, though I can do some things pretty well with my left hand. I've tried to get better at writing with the left but the result is usually quite messy.

I think Ambidextrous should have been included in the poll, since some people can use both equally well.
  •

Ugh.

Ambidextrous.

But I voted right handed because I always start with the right, switch to the left.

Janet_Girl

Very much right handed.  My left is almost uselessly except for typing or carrying items.  My hand writing is very feminine and always have been.

Both McCain and Obama are left handed.

That is scary because of the old saying, 'Left handed people are in their right mind'.
