The greed may have gotten totally out-of-hand. Perhaps something better, or maybe just different, is on the way.

I think of it as the birth of New Detroit City.  The city where robocop takes place.

Goddess!! That is what worries me, which is why I didn't just leave it at 'better.' I worry it could be 'worse.'

History tends to show that once people get mighty damned angry, the idiots at the top who are not taken out and beheaded tend to change their ways.  Probably because even if they are not governing the way they'd like to, they still have 'power'.  Power is important to the small penis set.  Also, to the small soul set and the small minded set.

Sometimes a lot of people have to die first.

On the bright side:

I saw some guy on the colbert report who manufactures water filters that have no replaceable filters.  He's trying to get them all over the world so people can stop drinking garbage water.  His filters handle a lot of water and will give you clean water no matter what you filter, whether it's latrine water or other horrible poisonous substances.

I believe that there are organizations and individuals who are willing to help without raping the people they are helping.  The more people that come up with cheap alternatives to fossil fuels and clean water and food production and distribution, the more likely things will get better.

My belief is that good people will work around and in spite of governments and corporations in order to help the least fortunate people on the planet.

I like your hope, Rebis. I knew there was some good reason we were secret lovers.

That was really quite wonderful.

Hugs,

Thank you.  I really believe that good people can and will make a difference.

It's just easy to forget that they are there.  They get no headlines.

That would be wonderful thing. However I can not believe anything that defies the laws of physics. If something is too good to be true it is probably just not true. I have seen filters like a thick straw that filter most bacteria to make drinking water but they have a limited life span.

Hi Lisagurl,

It turns out that the inventor is dean kaman.  Here's a link to what it's supposed to be about.

No filters, it uses distilling technology and a tiny amount of power.

It says that the sterling engine electrical generator is still being developed. Sterling engines have been around for 200 years and have never proved to be anything near a commercial product. There is just not any easy answers.

No easy answers, but people are working hard on accomplishing good for the world.  That is the point.  We tend to only see the work of the filthy bastards who are degrading people and destroying the earth and human culture.

Sometimes it's good to remember that there is a movement for the betterment of people.

Well Jimmy Carter has been spending his life trying to do good. But those special interest groups are always out for their own beliefs and not the general direction of all of humanity. Be careful of propaganda, the whole picture is often obscure in a blinding frame.
