"A while ago, I asked Gender Outlaw why he distinguishes himself from a
butch lesbian. Of course the answer is that he's a transman, but I was
curious where that boundary marker lies, internally:

He said, "When it comes to comparing the concepts of transgendered and
butch, I guess they're quite close, with the main difference for a
butch being the inner acceptance and social recognition of being
female. When a transgendered person takes the steps of surgery and
hormones, the gap between trans and butch widens."
