That ain't the Bluebird!! or the Ryman! O, just looked it up, the Sommett Center. What was it called when I left town? O, yeah, The Gaylord Center.

So they have Ali perform there now to make up the revenues they lose on Preds attendance?

yep that pretty much sums it up. Somehow saying "poor predators" just seems wrong though lol

she's such a sweetheart...

Alison Krauss - Lucky One

a great version of this song with a bluegrass twist- the images are N. Georgia, but as we both grew up in E. Tennessee I think the mountains will look familiar ;)

Note to self - get back to this thread.

She might have the best pure voice in the business.

I'm never sure of best. But certainly among the the best pure voice(s) in the business. Can play a pretty mean fiddle as well.

I completely agree about her voice and she definitely plays a mean fiddle- but there's some stiff competition for pure voice- Enya and Loreena Mckennitt come to mind, and Enya's sister Máire Brennan (Clannad) as well. A couple of older ones whose voices still give me goose bumps are Ann Wilson (Heart) and Linda Rondstadt. I've always been a sucker for those pure angel voices. My roommate says Alison Krauss's voice can cut glass- I don't know about that, but she can definitely rip your heart out, throw it on the floor, and stomp on it if she's a mind to lol

yeah, Linda's "Heart Like a Wheel" is one of those rip yer heart out songs... maybe we need to start a Linda Rondstadt thread, hehe  ;)

My only problem with AK is that she never sings ANYTHING which is upbeat. Linda R. and some of the other contenders (As always I'm partial to ONJ) would mix it up a lot more.

It would be nice to hear AK sing something where she sounded happy and excited.

Everything is soooooo slow.

by the way, I LOVE her take on "The Boxer"
