"Rivera Duarte founded the first organization representing the rights
of trans people in Chile. He has worked with government and health
officials on issues ranging from civil liberties to the treatment
and surgery options available to trans Chileans, and also works to
offer direct support to sex workers living on the streets. Rivera
Duarte convened the first national debate of proposed civil union
legislation for gay and lesbian couples."
