QuoteIf it had been any other lifestyle change, I probably wouldn't have needed to say a word about it. But transsexuality, and chest protrusions, are by their nature quite visible, and society hasn't reached the point yet where one can make such a change without raising some eyebrows. And that's basically what I told my colleagues in an email in April, minus two words: chest protrusions. It was the setup note for what was to come. It simply informed them that I am a transgender person, specifically a transsexual, that I would appreciate it if they called me Jill from now on, and that the company was recognizing the name change and it would be reflected in my computer ID and email. I had popped into the office on my day off, hit the send button, and then hit the road. R.I.P. Bill.
