Triangle Foundation to release report at 11 a.m.

By ERIC D. LAWRENCE • FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER • May 20, 2008

Detroit's Triangle Foundation will present its annual report on anti-lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender violence during an 11 a.m. news conference today at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center.

The report is developed by the Triangle Foundation and the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs.

Melissa Pope, a spokeswoman for Triangle, said her organization has tried to have crimes against people in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community covered by the state's Ethnic Intimidation Act since 1997. The group's annual report will look at "what is creating the climate for anti-LGBT violence."
