Panicking

Hi,

Something that has just really scared me just happened.

I was just reading through the forums and my mum came in and i went for the x button but I missed it and I think she got got a glimpse of this site. She made three small screams, but it could be the fact that she saw I was on the internet and wanted to use it, then she left. I'm panicking like mad now.

Aww, heh...

Really, you might wish for her to ask you about it. I certainly wouldn't mind my parent's taking the first step in that way.

If she saw the site name, she might investigate. Investigation might lead her here, and she'd be able to get some information. If she's a smart mum, that is.

Just hope she is.

And if she is, I hope you're ready to talk to her about it.

foreversarah, I do hope it goes well. Look at the bright side, it could go very well and she will accept it. I do know your fear, as I almost had a similar run-in today with my mother, fortunately I found the X button in time. I know she'd go completely nuts if she saw it on my screen  .

Yeah, it's annoying. You kind of look strange just looking at the desktop.

Unfortuantly I'm too smart because I dlete the history on the control panel, and I use Internet Explorer while my mum uses our ISP, so it sucks.

I have the opposite problem...that my kids will walk in when I'm looking at pics of surgeries, or prosthetics...

I'm not sure what's worse, them thinking I'm looking at prosthetics, or them thinking I'm looking at porn!!   (well I look at that too but not until very, very late...)

I do wish these sites had different display names.  Having Transsexual Talk as a huge header isn't very discreet...

Alt-tab is your friend. Have two browser windows open and use alt-tab to switch... much faster than the mouse and you
instantly look like your looking at something.... lol... not just the desktop.

You could also use Firefox or Opera and delete all your history every time you exit. No one should be forced to
use Internet Explorer.

Are you talking about the name of the window? If so there is a shareware program that will let you change that. I'm not
sure what it's called... I've not used in a long time.

Yeah, that's true, I also have another window open most of the time to fall back too, so at least it isn't the desktop .

I recommend Mozilla Firefox to use with this website if your trying to remain stealth, as it is MUCH easier to clear your trail than it is with Internet Explorer. IE leaves nine kinds of crap on your hard drive to find.

Same here. Aw, that makes it even better to hide if everyone is on IE

Yes.  I think you mentioned that before (or someone did).  I don't need it at home, I'm out to my kids, and I'm close to telling my brother anyway (we share a house), but occasionally it's dead at work and I can surf...but I'm not out there.  I probably couldn't download stuff onto the work computers.

We all use Opera at my parents' house...

And...there have been times where I've forgotten to close down an incriminationg tab after a session.

One time, I remember, I had simply closed down Opera with this site still on the tab row. Luckily, I remembered, and stealthed to the work-PC (that was before I got my own) at 3am to close down the tab.

I don't worry about it too much now, but when I still lived at home, I made -sure- to have another tab than susan's open whenever I'd leave the computer for more than a minute.

Foreversarah, even though it was an uneasy event that took place sometimes it could help out the situation in some way.  Remember  silence is also a very uneasy feeling and never talking about it will not make the event go away. If your mom makes no mention of it, it does not erase it, you still may have to talk about it. I wish you luck, and stay strong..

They think transpeople have "converted" me into a transsexual. Every time I come on here is a huge risk, as if they find out, I'll be in serious trouble.
I just don't see how not talking about it would "fix" it.

I spent 47 years trying very hard to be a 'good woman' and was unsuccessful at it.  Yes, I've lived a terrific life, but you can only ignore your gender issues for so long before you can't any more.  And trust me, I'm the last person that anyone that has ever known me would think was transsexual.  I'm so glad I have parented my kids differently than mine did me (which sounds similar to yours!)
