Neither Here Nor There

"Back in 1997, a groundbreaking study: (http://www.symposion.com/ijt/ijtc0106.htm ) found that the part of the brain called the (ready for it?) "central subdivision of the bed nucleus of the stria terminalis" (or for some reason, "BSTc", go figure...) differed between males and females; in males the BSTc is measurably larger and has a different structure. The BSTc of a transsexual, however, matches that of their self-identified gender, not their sex assigned at birth. Factors such as HRT were accounted for and found to confirm the finding, not refute it. In other words, the findings in trans people were not due to adult administration of cross-sex hormones."
