It's amazing the schisms that have formed in this campaign season. Bil Browning of The Bilerico Project has an eye-opening post up, "Why is EMILY's List endorsing anti-semitism, racism and homophobia?"  EMILY's List, an organization that promotes and helps fund women who run for public office, the primary goal is to ensure that pro-choice candidates are elected.

In one Congressional race (Tennessee's 9th district, which includes Memphis and environs), EMILY's List is backing a candidate, Nikki Tinker, who is up against a pro-choice, pro-LGBT incumbent, Steven Cohen. Tinker's campaign and surrogates have engaged in disturbing tactics that show how conflicts between core Democratic constituencies have erupted into ways difficult to paper over.

Steve Cohen has been a wonderful state rep, state senator and congressman. He was supporting trans-positive, sex changes on BC's etc in Tennessee in the 1990s.

I understand that EMILY's List has a method to their madness when it comes to women running for public office and that they are non-partisan. But this just is disheartening to see some Memphis-suburb, racist, trans- and homo-phobic, sexist, church-girl get money for seeding her campaign from them.

And the quotes from the "The Black Agenda" about Harold Ford, Harold Ford, Jr. and their despicable and criminal politcal organizations are also spot-on. The Ford-machine is/was every bit as bad as that white-racist one built by Crump in the 30s, 40s, & 50s in Memphis. I have trouble believing that even racist, homophobic black ministers who profess a belief in "god's word" don't have some qualms about this crap.

I thought they existed to support women of all political stripes in the early days of the campaign when a little money makes a big difference.  They do it regardless of party or political views.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...
