i found this for anyone who is transitioning at work and having restroom issues like i have. this is a federal ruling. Cruzan vs. Davis 2002.

i hope these links will help everyone who wishes to transistion in the near future.

i have also emailed these rulings to my boss, one thing i didn't know was that if an employee was complaining, he or she were to suppose to be referred to another restroom, not the transgender person. and i think that is how it should be.

That is exactly how the legal team at my company stated it when my transition was brought to them for evaluation.  They said that there are many other restrooms in the building and the complaining person can avail themselves of any of those.

And to date, no one has complained.

I have not had any problem about restroom use at work.   It is nice to know if it should ever come up.

I don't know much about the american legal situation but... here in britain, schools (but not most colleges and universities) are explicitly exempted from having to comply with the transgender anti-discrimination legislation.

im pretty sre tha american k-12 isnt nearly that bad... thank goodness!  but i wanted to have the laws straight when i returned to school next year.
