I love Celtic music to relax to.  Enya, Clannad, Celtic Woman, etc.

Classical music and Nature sounds (rain & ocean waves)
(it even soothes my insomnia sometimes)

There's no 'rock' option! :P

I listen to rock...or classical..or nature sounds.

Hmm I voted Smooth Jazz but I mostly listen to electronic music like trance and ambient when I want to relaxxxx.

Such as Hammock, one of my favorite ambient bands!

I picked instrumental for anime and video game music.

However I do like to relax to zen music and glam rock and biker-like music.

I do love a good violin too.

Music which takes me to a different place when I close my eyes. More often than not it's trance music which relaxes me most. Some tracks just have a quality whereby they can make you feel like you're somewhere else, somewhere away from the grind of daily life and free, floating with the strains of the music.

This one, for example, with my eyes closed it evokes images of a beach party in Ibiza, at dusk, with a cool breeze blowing through my hair while the sea laps against the shore and everyone with their hands in the air while this is played out among a laser show which dances in the darkening sky. It makes me go all shivery when I hear it - probably the gorgeous vocals.

Above all... remember: you are beautiful, you are valuable, and you have a shining spark of magnificence within you. Don't let anyone take that from you. Embrace who you are. <3

For me, it is Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey. Benny Goodman.  Anything Big Band Swing (circa 1940's).

I can't say instrumental for videogame music, that's just music I get pumped up or groove to.

I'll say New Age instead, as I use a lot of binaural/isochronic beat soundtracks to fall asleep or meditate to.  This being my biggest example: I fall asleep to it every night, and wake up to it every morning.

I voted jazz, but it was not about one single genre for me, I like certain classical pieces and recordings, I like the music of my youth, and I like women's folk and rock music.

To pick one artist too really chill out per this topic and have in the background would be Andreas Vollenweider, the Swiss harp master composer, performer....My soul mate and I both enjoy his music a lot in the background.....
