hair removal

Hey guys i wonder if any of you could help me i have alot of hair and i want to remove it just under arms legs & arms do any of you have any tips and also what should i use to remove hair from arms+legs+underarms?

Hello Tammy.

It depends how much time and money you have to spend on hair removal.  You may want to check this out in the Wiki for general information found here, and then have a look in the Links section on the main page.

There are many methods to remove hair from those areas you mentioned.  Some are more effective and longer lasting than others.  Some are quick and easy, others are a little harder to accomplish without professional help.

I think the quickest, cheapest, way is plain old shaving.  But like the other methods, there are draw backs.  The next is waxing or sugaring, following by the use of mechanical epilators, and then chemical epilators.  To top off the list you have laser, and electrolysis, but given the areas you want treated it would be very expensive to consider these last two options.

I'm sure that there is lots more advice to come, but do some research on the advantage and disadvantages of each method, and see which method appeals to you and go from there.

I've found a mechanical epilator to be the most economical and effective method (short of laser/electro). It pulls the hairs out completely, rather than just shaving them off at the surface, so you're smoother for a long time. Much less messy than waxing.

BUT! It hurts like heck. And the legs can take a long time to do.

I agree with Kate. I also use a mechanical epilator and it works real well. The first time I us it it hurts like he!!, but after that it didn't bother me much. Oh they say that it last up to 3 weeks, but for me it last about 4 days. But I hate stubble.
I still use a razer for my underarms and whenever I'm in a hurry. And a razer is great for touch-ups.
The chemical epilators I've tried don't work very well on my hair and often leave my skin feeling itchy. Some off the produces leave my skin red and raw where they have eaten into the skin but not the hair.
Never tried the waxing thing yet, but I do plan too.

I have my legs waxed reguarly as I find the Epilator just takes some much time on my legs. I shave my chest and under arms.

HRT will help with arms & a little bit on the legs, won't do much for underarms. I also lasered my legs - that was a big help.

Thanks guys i am not one for pain lol.Iv been looking online and in shops i also saw this shaver thingy that they showed on the telly which took a lot of hairs out and it lasted for quite a while i think its £60 in the high street shops but for £99 theres a laser hair remover i will have to look in to the above some more before i make up my mind.

I pretty much shave my legs, under arms and my stomach.  I use Skintimate shave gel with Aloe for sensitive skin and it works really great for me.  I use tweezers for my chest hair.  At first it hurts like heck, but over time it gets better.  I tried to shave my chest initially but I usually ended up with really bad ingrown hairs that I would have to dig out with my fingernails.  They would get really nasty if they got infected, almost like a pimple.  I tweeze them instead and it works much better for me.  I just started shaving my forearms.  I tried using Nair on my left forearm but it burned my skin really bad after 10 minutes so I just shave them now.  When shaving, be sure to use a lady's shaver for your body and a separate mens shaver for your face.  I made the big mistake of using my mens shaver on my forearms and ended up with an angry rash as a result.  My doctor told me there is bacteria on the face that the facial skin builds up an immunity to, but if you shave other areas of your body using a razor to shave your beard with, you may introduce this bacteria to other parts of your body that is not immune to this bacteria.  This leads to the angry rash I got.  I have since been using my lady shaver and now the rash is clearing up nicely.  Something you may want to consider.
