HOLYOKE - It was a different kind of prom - a free one, and not just in terms of money, but free of judgment, ridicule, oppression, alienation and pressure.

Organized by the recently founded grassroots group Holyoke Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning Task Force, the Western Massachusetts Youth Pride Prom attracted more than 400 young people seeking an alternate opportunity to attend an end-of-school-year celebratory event.

it's about time, hooray for them. i wish they could have these everywhere even if it does have to be separate from the regular one. what matters is they had fun, just as any person should.
