I was under the impression you have to stop E a good month before. I didn't hear anything about 2 weeks. They told me to stop in June and I can take the Spiro up till 2 weeks before surgery.

Did you not get the information package with all the instructions for care, info about the surgery, medications, etc. ?

Quoted from that same package:

THREE WEEKS BEFORE SURGERY
"Stop taking hormone medications (estrogen and progesterone).  Bring them with you to Montreal.  You will take them again 5 days after surgery.  Stop spironolactone"

I got the packet. I also spoke on the phone to them and I was told to stop my E shot in June and the spiro 2 weeks before surgery.

Oh, maybe it's because you are doing injections.  I don't think that stopping spiro 2 or 3 weeks prior will make that much difference.  I'm taking androcur, so I will just stop both three weeks prior

That's wierd that your packet said to bring them with you to Montreal. Mine specifically said NOT to bring them.

Just as a note here, I just did my first shot of E after being off since March 9th, a little over 6 weeks ago, and have noticed no downsides. I really don't think being off of hormones for such a small time will really do anything unless you happen to have only been on HRT for a short period of time.

FYI - I stopped E and spiro 3 weeks before the surgery.

That's weird.  Was there not a sheet entitled PREPARING AT HOME FOR VAGINOPLASTY with your package?  This may sound silly, but maybe they have one for Canadian patients and one for international patients

Do you take a monthly injection?

It could be. I know they had a different contract for US patients. As for E, without getting into too many details (as it's not allowed), I take it every other week. I'm going to be checking in with my doctor to see if I should lower my dose or anything soon.

I don't understand, why is it not allowed?

It's against the policies of this site to discuss details of HRT usage, I'm assuming so as to not indulge those who might use it to self-administer.

Yeah Kristyn My letter said NOT to bring em with you. They even said on the phone not to and stop the 'shot' In june for me.

SarahR, Thanks for letting us know. We kinda do the same Schedule For 'shots' so I'm glad cause I was really worried the evil 'T' would come back up and mess everything up.

This was written in your confirmation letter?  I should be getting mine shortly, I'll see if it says the same thing.  In the information package I received when I went for my consult, it is written that you should bring them and that you'll resume taking then five days later
