I started a 'T-Log' (journal) a couple weeks ago as soon as major transition stuff started happening (t-consent form, name change certificate came in... etc). I'm going to write in it everytime something significant happens in my transition (either positive or negative). As well, I'm going to record my voice once a month, in addition to pre-t voice, so that I can kind of "track" it.

Has anyone else done this (or with estrogen)? Have you found it helpful or was it more of a "painful memory"?

I am keeping somewhat of a log. Basically it is just for amusment though.

I have not found it painful, for what that is worth.

I too started a log/diary recording the significant issues I encountered or conquered.  Likewise with significant events.  I think I maintained it faithfully for about 6 months but I haven't touched it in a while.  I guess the excitement of the time wore off :)

I started and gave up. It got to be too self-obsessive for me. (Just got two sideburn hairs on my heretofore entirely missing right side-burns!) ;)

I started an online one.  I programmed it to work exactly how I wanted with searching and everything.  I haven't been touching it for a while due to getting tired of posting duplicate news and people viewing it that I didn't want knowing certain things.  I will revise it so that only approved people can read it, then I'll put more info in there.

Hi Tino:

I started one when I began hormones, but after a while, I got sick of it and threw it away. >:D

Hope you're feeling much better now...

I hope you do revise it soon and make it so that maybe some of us could read it (or parts of it, depending on what ur comfortable with).

auntie tinkerbell:

i am feeling much better, my face is cleared up and I'm almost back to being my sexy little self  :icon_eyebrow:.

Hi Tino:

I threw it away because I got tired of it.  For us girls, the effects of estrogen take much longer to show, so you don't see any differences in your body really (at least in my case I didn't) until you are on your third or fourth month of HRT therapy.  Of course it all depends on the type of estrogen and the dosage you are being prescribed as well.
No, I am not usually evil, only when people make me ...just kidding.... ;D
Glad to hear you're feeling much better.

let us know the details of your T therapy...

i love your site melissa, i never realized you had a link to it! thanks for the info and it's given me some really good ideas for my journal (if you don't mind me borrowing them).

it would be really great if you kept updating it. i really like the section where you had month by month things that happend and it wasn't all to do with transition (sorry to hear you lost your grandma :(). i'm not really that all knowing with writing script for a site like that, so i'm going to keep it in my written paper journal, but i think it's really cool that you have that up for people to read through.

thanks again,

I downloaded a transgender transition log program.  It's pretty much geared for MtF, though, with fields for recording different body measurements.  I don't think that's the kind of stuff FtMs want to record, though.  But you may get some ideas from it.  I believe it's a stand-alone program written with Micro$haft Axxess.

I have try to log things down but, I'm often busy or maybe too lazy to write down cause i know i never going to look at it anyway. Feel weird if someone see it. I guess cause I have too much secret in my life that I feel if people read it they may think I'm crazy. Since lot of stuff I go through in life seem too crazy or maybe not normal at all.

thanks for the advice and input cindi! i'm doing a lot of this journal so that i can see the progress of emotions, but there are so many other things i never thought to "watch for" or journal about! those were some really great suggestions, especially about how the relationships around me change and progress (or degress). i'm convinced now not to just write about transition related things after reading melissas progress log and from your advice cindi.

i have one shot at doing this right i figure because i want to have everything taken care of from the significant beginning of my transition. now that i look back on it i wish that i had kept a journal of the past 5 years because i know A LOT has changed. i don't want to look back on my transition and regret either not journaling or forgetting to journal about some things.

I agree with cindie anne. Over the years the revelations are incredible, I gained insight in noticing patterns of behavior,  some that I did not want but still had just disguised.  Measurements are good for F2M specially if tou want 2 buff up.
