http://www.basicrights.org/?p=303The National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) announced today that the U.S. House of Representatives will hold its first ever hearing on transgender issues next week.
"This is not only an opportunity to be truly heard by our fellow Americans, it will help to build the foundation for significant changes in federal laws protecting transgender people from discrimination," said NCTE director Mara Kiesling.
The hearing, titled "An Examination of Discrimination Against Transgender Americans in the Workplace," is scheduled for Thursday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. in Room 2175 of the Rayburn building in Washington, DC. The hearing was scheduled by Rep. Rob Andrews (D-NJ), who chairs the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) subcommittee of the Committee on Education and Labor.
