For once... a happy film.

I just watched "Kinky Boots" this evening.  It's been showing on HBO.  I loved it!  I typically sit in pain as I watch any sort of "trans" movie.... cause sister.... I've lived it.  They drag my life through the dirt just one more time.

Lola, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, is sexy in a Tim Curry sort of way and the inspiration for turning around an old shoe company who has made Oxford shoes since time began.

East meets west and the collisions produce roll on the floor comedy, great one liners, and some upbeat music.

I also enjoyed it immensely and its in my DVD collection.

It is unfortunate that it hasn't received play time in the theaters here. 

Maybe we could make it some sort of cult classic.

I caught bits and pieces of the movie when it was on one of the cable channels. What I caught was quite enjoyable. Was it not based on stuff IRL?

Its a 'true story' - which is to say, what happened was sort of what happened in the movie.
