Is an excellent movie, although it might be even more impressive for you if you actually know some of the ABBA songs it uses as a libretto (most of their hits.)

Meryl Streep & Pearce Brosnin are excellent in their parts and, of course, Christine Baranski is, well, Christine Baranski. I don't know if she's consistently type-cast or if she simply plays herself, but her part is pretty much what you'd expect.

The story is about a girl who's about to get married who's been raised alone by her mother on a Greek Island. (Yeah, I know, wouldn't that have been grand?!) The mother is an aging hippie who runs a small bed and breakfast and has never told the girl who her father is.

Of course the mother isn't sure either. She was with different three men around the time her daughter was conceived. The girl gets the names of the men from an old diary of her mom's she found and writes to them all inviting them to her wedding. O, she also tells each of them that she's his daughter he never knew about. They all come for the wedding, actually, of course riding in together on the sailboat of one of the prospective fathers.

Afterwards, just a witty, funny and heart-warming tale of disovering identity: the father's and the mother's and daughter's.

We had great fun watching it. The crowd, and the theater was full, was 50-80 somethings though. But, the movie was a treat. "The Dancing Queen" set-up and song were just wonderful!! My favorite scene in the movie.

O, yes, the performers did the singing. This isn't an ABBA soundtrack although the two men of the group did write & produce the show.

I love that song, I love ABBA, I love musicals and I love Meryl Streep, so I'll probably be seeing this.

I felt the movie was good, I have also seen the stage show in Las Vegas.  I remember when ABBA first came on the scene.
