What's wrong with the APA (psychiatry, not psychology) is that they are dominated by neo-Freudians who find sexuality at the basis for all human behavior.
I have no problem with Voltaire's observation that, "At the base of many ideas is a little gonad." But these characters find sexuality in everything. Many of them still use things like Rohrschach tests, which have been shown again and again to show nothing. Yet, they are used as "tools" to determine "facts" unavailable to anyone anyhow.
Most psychiatrists these days are involved in one of two spheres: 1) medication prescription and 2) private "practices" of psycho-analysis that keep wealthy patients "on the couch" for 5-6 years 3x/week at $250-$300 per visit.
Most psychiatrists never get insurance payments and many are simply quacks with medical degrees.
