OMG, I totally got toasted today ! So what is the best 'stuff' to do or use to help heal by poor skin?  I'm as red as the ketchup I used for dinner  .

Aloe is good along with any good moisturizing creams. The biggest problem is the skin is dried out

Second on the Aloe Vera stuff, works for me pretty well, and in Cali I get a good burn a couple times a year when I have to work outside for a full day.

Try actual aloe, as in the plant itself.

Break it open and smear the sap onto your sunburn.

Becareful with the actual plant "leaf", aloe has spines.

If you can find aloe in the grocery store, use it the real thing works wonders.

While wearing it... its sticky and has a quite potennt odor. Also be sure to wear something you dont mind losing as the sap often stains or is difficult to get out.

After exercising outdoors, I always massage my face with blocks of ice from the refrigerator. Also, in my case, ice help shrink facial pores, reducing wrinkles. A dermatologist recommended me to massage with ice, especially after exercising outdoors in summer.

I've always used Noxema (as in the big blue tub) for sunburn. Even though it's advertised as a skin cleanser, it's also a moisturizer. It works pretty well for me.

Noxema is good. They used to promote it for sunburn relief before aloe became popular. I used to get sunburned a lot when I was younger (I don't stay out in the sun anymore), and my mom would always wipe vinegar on me with a cotton ball. It feels very soothing and takes the sting out. To this day, the smell of vinegar reminds me of sunburn.

Ack, today was terrible! It was all sunny so I had to pretty much stay indoors! lol Guess I'll learn to use sunscreen next time  . Right now though, I'm going to go to the great magical land called Wally World, and get me some noxema and aloe vera (can't hurt to use both right?). Thanks for all the great comments!

Any woman who cares about their skin would be using a spf-15 sunscreen anytime they venture outdoors...

I use baby oil, or Hawaiian Tanning Butter, but it's California and we look at tanning as a competitive sport.

Those don't protect your skin and you will age early. It's the UV you gotta watch out for.

I have combination skin. So I burn rather easily, but also tan rather well. With the threat of skin cancer, a good sunblock is a must.

I do allot of gardening in the summer. If I forget the sunblock, I turn into a lobster very quickly. Luckily my sister gave me a large container of rather expensive moisturizing sunblock that will probably last me for several years. It's pretty good stuff. Folks often think I'm much younger then I am since I've been using it
