I sometimes have beautiful dreams about being a girl. Maybe it is the spirit of a girl who once lived in a past time who is trying to awaken again. Or maybe it is the memories of my life in that
time long ago. I wished I knew the answer! This is a bit long, I hope you will like it.
To the girl I used to be
Somewhere in the long ago
There was a girl I used to know.
I dream of her from time to time
And she is always on my mind.
I see her face but don't know her name,
Yet I know I love her just the same.
She lives in another time and place.
Her smile is sweet and she has charm and grace.
Her skin is soft, her hair is brown,
Her pretty dress has flowers 'round.
Who is this girl? I should know her name.
She is so familiar, what is her fame?
And why does she look so much like me?
I am a boy! How can this be?
I dreamed of her again today.
She smiled at me and I heard her say,
"Look inside your heart and you'll find me.
I am the one you used to be.
Just take my hand, let's walk awhile.
The things I say will make you smile."
She spoke of time with things untold
Where we laughed and played and never grew old.
We wore pretty dresses with pink ribbons in our hair
And lived each day without ever a care.
Oh how I wished my life could always be this way.
It was all so very beautiful, I pleaded to stay.
But her hand slipped from mine, she started to go.
I remember crying, oh no, please no!
Then I awoke with tears in my eyes
And I knew in my heart I could no longer disguise
This beautiful girl that lives within me.
I am so proud of her, I want the whole world to see.
And during the day my thoughts drift back to her.
I have just one question, I'm really not sure.
Will I one day be you again?
