Autumn Sandeen at Pam's House Blend channels Big Brother

The idea that women of operative history are indeed women is one that the transgender bunch just cannot stomach.  Witness what just happened on Pam's House Blend in the past 24 hours.  Pam's house ->-bleeped-<-, Autumn recently announce she was changing the TOS so that anyone who did not accept "transgender" as an umbrella term was no longer welcome on the Blend.

Think about this.... what Sandeen was saying is that if someone who had a birth condition, got it corrected and then got on with their life would not accept being dragged back to a third gender category in total renouncement of her own womanhood, she was unwelcome to participate on a women's blog!!  And Pam let her get away with this.

Ok, this one is my own blog.....and naturally everything I write is my own opinion  :)  But "from HBS point of view"?  It would be much more accurate to say from the POV of a woman of transsexed/intersexed history who has also been a lifelong feminist and champion of basic civil rights across a wide spectrum.  HBS is a useful concept but it has it's share of out and out nutcases so I feel this is an important distinction.  For what it's worth I have started a new essay on the wider implications from a feminist viewpoint and how the dialogue outside the trans communities has been shifting and what that will mean to future civil rights efforts.

I wrote her immediately after Autumn's action.  She has not responded and I think I know why, the gay and lesbian posters on Pam's are starting to object to "trans-jacking" almost every discussion on that board and Pam is well aware a very nasty exchange would follow any discussion of Autumn's actions.  I really cannot blame her for feeling that way but felt, given the changing dialogue within the greater LGBT movements this particular excess needed to be addressed.  It is one thing to silence opposing viewpoints within cloistered trans activist venues but when that sort of silencing extends into the greater communities it should be confronted and addressed.  I am unable to respond to pms btw until my number of posts increases. (and I think this is an excellent policy btw)
