As you may or may not know I have spent over 33 years running away from the girl I have always been. By the age of 12 I knew I was female, but due to the Northern English working-class society I was raised in to come out as a girl would at the very least have lead to many more beatings than i did get as a child from other children.

My reason for asking the question is the article below which appeared in The Times newspaper:
