A Montgomery County judge today sided with opponents of broad new protections for transgender individuals, clearing the way for voters in November to accept or reject the law.

Circuit Court Judge Robert A. Greenberg said in a ruling today that gay and transgender rights advocates seeking to stop a referendum on the law missed a key deadline for challenging the Montgomery County Board of Elections, which certified the referendum petition.
