I SOMEWHAT agree with this. Puberty makes MAJOR changes, so a child should not be given hormones before then. I do think, however, hormone blockers are okay, as they only hold back the physical changes. They do not make permanent change that cannot be undone that the kid may later regret. Life is long enough that I think people should really get over waiting. I'm 18, I had to wait until I was 18 to get started, and frankly, I think under 18 is too young... And yes, I know what it's like to be young and want to transition. But I wouldn't have been ready to have T shot into my veins. I don't think very many young people are ready. They all say, "I'm not like you," and "Well, I'm the exception." But they don't realize that's what everyone says, and not everyone can be the exception.
However, a young child should be allowed to express their sexuality and gender identity.
