ENDA & HRC Protests Burn Up The Blogosphere

The Human Rights Campaign gala took place in San Francisco as expected: plenty of folks outside drawing attention to HRC's inequality, and plenty of folks on the inside – including a couple of trans folks (to keep things PC and blunt criticism) who took turns speaking. I've got some thoughts on all of that. But one thing occurred that was a bit of a headline.

It kinda gets boring rather quickly. But invariably I simply cannot see the difference that conservatives draw between "gay men or gay women trying to pass themselves off as the opposite sex" and "gay men doing disgusting things in bath-houses and public toilets."

I'm sure that Boston Paul and Shane Hensinger would make some distinctions and they do. Nor do they seem at all interested in the well-being of butch lesbians and femme gays. Of course, I'm sure their dating preferences go to "no fems, fats or economically deprived need apply." Although on our own we make those same sorts of distinctions among ourselves. We all seem to love the idea of using another's head as a stepping-stone.

It's just all very tiring and predictable at this point. I cannot believe how long and how epic some of the comments were. Can people truly keep that much interest for that long? el ganador & pine are well worth the reads provided you can wade through the other BS to get to them. Julie was quite admirable in so many ways. But the arguments with the "We get to be treated like real men" gays just are falling on deaf ears and dumb brains.

The Human Rights Campaign had security knock a woman around.

Maybe they should remove the words "Human rights" from their title.  Then they can just be the mysterious "Campaign"

I agree with Nichole. I think that there are some in the HRC who want their 'fringe' elements to stay invisible and shut up.  I get the impression they don't care about anyone except GAY people who APPEAR STRAIGHT.

I wonder how they would have treated Charles Nelson Reilly?  That guy was hilarious and he wasn't afraid to be himself.
