I'm now on my way and I walk through my day feeling more like the real me, to the point that I am painfully aware of the times that my old shell reflexively jumps in front. I know I am only feeling a tiny part of who I will be, but the flip-flops still hurt, just a little, and I'm learning to recognize and stop them before they happen. Working in an office does not add to the fun, as the clothes and environment trigger so many automatic gendered behaviors, but the work is good.
