Had an experience yesterday that threw me for an emotional loop. I was in the store getting keys made and buying a new windshield wiper. The elderly store clerk was nice to me calling me sweetie and darling. He even went out of his way to find the wiper blade for me.
The key person was nice to me too and did not bat an eye.

I don't know been on hormones for like a year and for some odd reason i became inept to how to put a wiper blade on my car. So, back into the store. I knew i was in trouble with the guy at the customer service window when i ask for help. He kept calling me sir and then he announce to all at the front of the store that he is going to go outside and help this gentleman out with his car. I told him twice i am not a sir! and my name is robin. He persisted.

He finally stop when he arrived at my car and saw my three kids sitting there. I wanted to give him a piece of my mind. But i didn't because my kids where there and i needed the windshield wiper on my car.

Half the time im getting Maamed and the other time i meet the not so nice people who are determine (it seems) to put me in my place.

hmmmmm.........

That guy's an ass. You're really pretty...

I understand when transgirls sometimes get sir'd if they haven't started hormones and look fairly masculine. But you don't look that way to me. So I don't understand why you got that crap from that guy...

What a jerk. Sorry you had to deal with that, hon. You totally pass, so I don't know how the guy read you.

What a jerk! Some people just can't stand to be corrected and seen to be wrong. Even if they recognize their mistake, they refuse to correct it, instead becoming huffy or angry or self-righteous. Since THEY can't be wrong, obviously YOU must be wrong. (I'm afraid I've seen this trait more in men than in women, but that's just my experience.)

How frustrating. I guess if you had your kids there and didn't want to make a big issue of it, you didn't have much choice in how to handle this.

Maybe you should drop a friendly, educational note to the store manager about this incident. It's one thing for an employee to make a mistake; it's quite another entirely to persist in making the error when he has been politely corrected.

Sorry to hear about that. You are pretty and just know that some people can be such ->-bleeped-<-s! I can totally sympathize with you. I have been on hormones for 4 years and sometimes it still happens to me. Hang in there!

He was an A-hole. I'm glad that he stopped in front of my kids and that i have common sense to make sure my kid's are safe.

Thanks everyone for the post.

Manager or not, he still has a boss.
If it is a chain, then he definitely has a boss, one who will not be very happy.

A peta'Q by any other names smells just as bad and is just as slimy.

If it is a chain, call the home office asap.  Complain loud and long!

Aye a petaQ.

Sorry my friend, he was an ass.
Every day we pass people, do we see them or the mask they wear?
If you live under a mask long enough, does it eventually break or wear down?  Does it become part you?  Maybe alone, they are truly themselves?  Or maybe they have forgotten or buried themselves so long, they forget they are not a mask?

Yes, I agree. As the hormones do their job, I have fewer and fewer problems, but every now and then there is someone who reads me and a few of those maliciously make a point of pushing it. I've asked to speak to their manager a couple of times (both times resolved nicely) and called the head office once for an issue with a malicious dry old bat at a post office in the village where I used to live. The French postal service takes its time in all things and they did in this too, but after a while I got a great apology from upon high and the local manager brought the bat around to my place for a personal apology.

Sometimes it's worrying because it outs us even more, but I think that if we don't take these idiots to task and increase awareness of the issue with the management of these organisations we just leave these characters there to abuse the next person they come across.

Oh, and Robin: You do definitely look quite wonderful! :)

Hugs,

Em

ignorant! ignorant! ignorant! i know exactly what you went thru girl. in person i don't see how anyone would sir you and i have met and seen women with voices twice as deep as anything mine use to be. on the phone i know it's confusing because Robin and Mickie are both unisex names, i've been thinking about answering the phone with my middle name Lynette cause the phone we have is crap, even my wife said that, but when everybody calls here(home) half the time they don't know which one of us they are talking to. i would complain to his boss and then not shop there again till you got a formal apology from him or he was fired. i'm sorry but if people(employers) are going to insult their customers they shouldn't have that position, imo.

He's a creep.  I understand if you don't want to pursue this, but I think talking to HIS manager would help put the guy in his place.  He should not treat any customer disrespectfully.  You are a lovely lady, I hope his bad behavior did not get you down.
