Taxi !!!

I've noticed in my city that there is a definite trend when it comes to where females or males sit in taxi's.

What your preference?

We don't have many in the little town 14 miles to the north in Kansas. But the few we do one must ride in back seat.

I suppose one could sit in the front seat, but the cabbies here don't really like that unless there are already 8 people in the back seat!

I've only ridden in a taxi once in my life (when I was getting out of the army and heading to the airport) and I can't remember if they gave us a choice.  I do remember that I sat in the backseat.

Depends really on my mood for conversation. If I'm not really in the mood it's the back if I feally chatty it is the front.

I drove a taxi for 6 years and I definitely preferred people to sit in the back unless it was full of people.

Funny, it must be a cultural thing as I drove Taxi's here in Australia and most often preferred that they sat in the front. I guess that in part was because I was the chatty sort of driver.

I liked the chatting part. I just hated to move all my crap off the passenger side - my trip sheet, newspapers, all that. I felt like the front seat was all mine and they were in my space.

Could chat just fine with someone in the back.

Yeah...I know it is an old thread...but I like the topic.
I don't know if we have a choice in California, for most people sit in the back seat.  I guess it could be possible to sit next to the driver, if you are a guy or are a little tipsy ; it is just not appropriate for a lady to sit next to the taxi driver unless of course he is your boyfriend or a close friend.
