So when do you notify your employer/insurance company about your name change and gender marker?  I'm not out yet at work, but plan on having my name changed well before Thanksgiving.  I looked on my insurance website and they stated that all name change stuff had to be done with the employer so the records matched (ie insurance doesn't keep paying for Jane Doe when it's really John Doe now).

I'm still working on the best time to come out at work.  I think January, after T has worked it's magic and top surgery is over with.  OTOH if I'm still Jane Doe at work and on my insurance, but my legal name/gender is John Doe, M, and I need my insurance to cover me...there's going to be a problem there, no?  I suppose I could come out to the business office but I'm sure word will spread in the gossip factory I work in.

Go talk to your HR person.  Don't really reveal anything, just asking question.  I will be able to tell you more after September 4.
