What do you do if you're an idiot?

What do you do if you reported your wallet lost to the police....

And then found it on your dresser 5 hours later. Which means you were driving around without a license. And filed a police report for no %#!@ing reason and wasted their time.

Anyone got an answer??

God, I feel like an idiot.

You're not an idiot, honey. *hugs*

Just call the police and tell them you've found your wallet (you shouldn't need to say where). There's a difference between reporting it lost and reporting it stolen (the former means that inherently there's a chance you could have found it again).

You didn't report it for no reason. At the time you believed it was lost. And technically, since you couldn't find it, it was.

I doubt the paperwork will have even moved in that time.

Then revel in the sense of relief that you may be feeling. :) I'm glad you found it again, Nate.

Above all... remember: you are beautiful, you are valuable, and you have a shining spark of magnificence within you. Don't let anyone take that from you. Embrace who you are. <3

Better safe than sorry. If you had indeed lost it somewhere like the airport, it was right to call right away and cancel everything and report before someone does have a chance to steal your id or use your cards.
Everyone makes mistakes like this at one time or another. Don't sweat it.

Maybe I shouldn't say anything because I tend to beat myself up for being an idiot to. but we all make mistakes.  I actually felt like an idiot myself last night, someone conned me out of 10 dollars...  doi!
Every day we pass people, do we see them or the mask they wear?
If you live under a mask long enough, does it eventually break or wear down?  Does it become part you?  Maybe alone, they are truly themselves?  Or maybe they have forgotten or buried themselves so long, they forget they are not a mask?

Trapthavok,
Reporting it stolen and then saying you found it is not a crime.  It is only a crime if you report it and it was just a joke.  That is called 'filing a false police report'.
Reporting it lose and then saying you found it is not a crime.  They will be happy to take it of the watch list.

Don't beat yourself up over it.  Things happen.

You would only be an idiot if you did not report it and wound up with identity thief.

Mistakes happen and that's Ok.
