Her Words Floated Away On the Wind

Memory ropes attach themselves to my heart and mind. They draw me into my past, bringing forward events and people I have loved and respected. Somewhere deep within me there is this well of memory. In the water of that well float those who have lived in, moved through, or remain in my life. In that well floats every memory, good or evil, of the days of my life.

Atop the well ropes hang on a pulley rigged to the well-housing, its white lattice glowing lavender-pink at sunset. On the rope's end hangs an old oaken bucket, scarred and dented somewhat with the passage of years, the losses of clarity.
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." Oscar Wilde
