A trans woman from Prince George County, MD is going to be on America's Next Top Model (airing Sept. 3).  I hope that this isn't just about ratings.

Well, that's good news Erika. But could you, please, if ya don't mind too much, go in and add an "a" after "getting" and before "shot" in the title. I was expecting tragedy! :)

I think that's awesome! There are no men contestants on the show, so the producers are showing people that she's no different than the other girls on there. A good step, I'd say.
Nero was the Forum Admin here at Susan's Place for several years up to the time of his death.

Yes, Nero--it looks like a sign of progress. We'll see...

I was unsure when I first saw the thread title if firearms were involved...  I guess reading the transgender news has us on edge...
Here's what I find about compromise--
don't do it if it hurts inside,
'cause either way you're screwed,
eventually you'll find
you may as well feel good;
you may as well have some pride

Awesome.

There's another 'mainstream' contest show with a transwoman on it, too.  "I Want to Work for Diddy," I think it's called.  It's a bunch of people who want to be P. Diddy's new personal assistant, it comes on vH1, and there's a black transwoman on it.  The last episode I watched, she was explaining to the other contestants about transsexuality, and only one of them thought it was weird [and when he voiced that opinion, the other contestants looked at him like he was an ass :D ].

That is totally awesome!!

My mom/sister are avid AMNT fans so I told them about the trans as soon as I read this. She's beautiful (HOT) and I offered to show them a picture, but they said they want to be surprised when the season starts so we'll see how that goes. It was actually very open of my mom, especially since I thought the wounds were too recent (my coming out was yesterday) to even mention the word trans in our house, but she was receptive.
