More Federal Intelligence Changes Planned

The Justice Department has proposed a new domestic spying measure that would make it easier for state and local police to collect intelligence about Americans, share the sensitive data with federal agencies and retain it for at least 10 years.
Quietly unveiled late last month, the proposal is part of a flurry of domestic intelligence changes issued and planned by the Bush administration in its waning months. They include a recent executive order that guides the reorganization of federal spy agencies and a pending Justice Department overhaul of FBI procedures for gathering intelligence and investigating terrorism cases within U.S. borders.

This is not new only the technology. J Edgar Hoover-

He is known to have used the FBI to harass political dissenters and activists, to have amassed secret files on political leaders[2] and to have used illegal methods to collect evidence.[3] It is because of Hoover's long and controversial reign that FBI directors are now limited to 10-year terms.[4]

It is also known that he was a ->-bleeped-<-.

some people think bush/cheney are holding files of some democrats to keep them in line. I don't know if it's true, however, I do believe they are capable.

These new domestic spying measures will probably never be undone once it's started.

They now count environmental groups and other citizen movements as terror groups. I forget the specific ones.
