Weight (again, but a little different)

I know ignore the numbers, but hear me out.

Okay, so I hit 180 pounds the other day, which is a good weight for my height and frame as a male, and not too terrible for a woman of my height (about 6'1" barefoot). I was pretty happy about this, but today I realized, I have so much dense muscle from riding bicycles that people always guess my weight to be 20-30 pounds less than it actually is, meaning I look like I weigh about 150-160. This puts me just below or at the bottom of my optimal weight for my height and frame as a woman. Great! Sort of.

Say I continue to lose another 20 pounds, which may happen as I am still dropping at about 5-6 pounds a month and I used to actually be between 155 and 160 pounds with 5-7% body fat from my teens into my 30's, so it is not unreasonable. I only went up to 215 because of a medical problem which has been taken care of. At 155 I look like I weigh about 130, at my height that is really thin and light for male or female of any build.

If I go back down to those numbers and almost no body fat left, what will happen when I start hrt? Do I need to retain some of that (if I can) or will that happen on its own as my metabolism slows or muscle starts diminishing? Yes, I know many of you would love this problem, but I'm a bit concerned I will have nothing left to redistribute.

A great deal is going to depend on how sensitive you are the HRT, but in general HRT should take care of the fat muscle issue. Once e rules and t is in check most people will lose muscle and gain fat again how much depends on sensitivity.

Warning below this point is totally my opinion so take it for what it is worth.

As for "redistribution of body fat", I think that is sort of a myth. I mean you are either losing fat or gaining it not really moving it arround. So some "redistribution" can happen over time but only because you've lost and gained weight a few times. HRT changes the prefered locations so when you lose you tend to lose more in the areas that your new hormones want you to lose and when you gain again the hormones select prefered storage locations. At least this is what I seem to notice.

I'm not sure how fat moves around but it does. I went from 5-10 185 pre-HRT to 165 before
starting HRT. After starting HRT there was a three month period where I dropped about 10 pounds and then
another 20 in 2 to 3 months after that. I got down to the 130's at my lightest a couple of months ago which was way too
skinny for 5-10. I realized that and I've tried to gain weight and have gone up about 10 pounds, and everything I've gained has gone
on my butt and thighs and stayed off my waist. I was never fat, even at 185 I was always told I was too skinny so I know
a lot of the weight loss was muscle especially from 165 to 139. I also bike a lot and I still have huge leg muscles still but since
there are covered in fat now so they look feminine. Based on what has happened to my body I would say lose the
weight and anything you gain will be put in the right places. I also think women look more feminine if they are not
very skinny. Women need curves and so do we... maybe  more so.

Yep. Nothing hotter than a curvy woman.  :-*

Leslie,

I think it depends on genetics and age too.

First I shrunk 1 inch on HRT for three years. I am old but not so old that I should be shrinking.

My current height is 5'10" and my weight is 170 pounds.  My body fat is around 22%.  I had gained a hugh amount of weight after 2 years into the program and was just plain fat.  However I got my hips to 40" which was good.  I then proceeded to lose 60 pounds which was comprised of 28 pounds of muscle and 32 pounds of fat within 18 months. My hips fell to 36".  My boobs remained a solid "B" even as I lost weight.

I would like to get down to about 165 and 20% body fat.  I currently have a small rear and small hips (36") which I expect will not change.  I am sure if I pile on 30 pounds of bacon I will get my hips back to 40" but I have no desire to regain weight.  My dimensions are rather male which is rather disappointing.

My mom and sister do not have big hips and do not have big butts.  Therefore that is probably my genetics.

I did lose inches on upper arms, upper thighs, waist, upper chest, and hips.  I did not lose an inch off my calves.  Sure enough my mom had large calves when she was young therefore it is probably in my genes to have large calves regardless of gender.

I think age diminishes the effects of HRT when you go over 50.

I thought more about this yesterday and I do think a lot of it is genetics, my mom has very little fat as well. My grandmothers on the other hand...

I am going to just let the weight keep coming off, no sense in stopping it even if I could, and just see what happens.

Muscles go down very very slowly.
But, its a problem really only the shoulder/arm area, everywhere else,
its actually quite good to have muscles covered with a layer of fat.
I'm 6 foot 165 pound and have quite a bit of muscles, especially in the lower body
People always guess I weight 140 pounds and find me sooo thin.

Most young women have have more muscles than older women (and also
less fat), the combination makes the muscles slightly visible under the
fat layer which is what makes attractve legs, arms instead of flabby one.

Soooo, don't worry too much about it.

Since I re-started E about 6 or 7 months ago after 19 years off it, I have gone from a 38B to a solid 38C and the fat that I had accumulated as male went to my thighs (now 26"), my butt (now 39") my calves added about 1/2" and my arms have lost some muscle mass. But that may be from retiring from the work force and not been so physically active.

The osteoporosis has a semi-disabling effect in that I don't get into contact sports such as motorcycle racing and skateboarding. I know I will break bones very easily and stay away from that sortta activity. Trout and bass fishing are NOT a contact sport, so I keep that going regularly..doctor's orders!

As far as the fat redistribution thing..yes! It does! At least for me. My butt jiggles now and it never did that before. My boobs do so much more too and are so much more sensitive. If I don't wear a bra, by the end of the day they ache. There is fat under the boobs that have really filled them out and up to new perkier positions.

Funny that now if I lie on my side that they collide together and when I stand I see a real improvement in cleavage too. It brings out the narcissist in me.

Body hair is growing much slower and shaving it has been reduced to once a week now, and the regrowth is very fine and light-colored.

My feet have lost one size from men's 9 1/2 to 8 1/2 and that helps a lot with self-esteem.

My weight on the other hand has not moved but maybe dropped 5 lbs even with all this fat redistribution..which I totally and wholeheartedly believe...I am walking proof.

The head hair is softer and more self-lustrous and I think that this is just the beginning for body shaping.

I don't like the nails thinning as I break them all the time even though they are pretty short. My eyesight (a serious problem that can hide for a few years for HRT-using people)  are focally stable and since I've had retinal detachment in one eye, the docs are very concerned about the other. They say things look solid and safe for a while, but they don't know what happened...as I am 'way overdue for trouble with the second eye by now. Time will tell.

Imagine using HRT to prevent eye/retinal degeneration.

Oh, yes another good thing: My prostate is the size of a 13 y/o even though it's a 1946 model...and I don't take the meds for that any more either. Now if the HRT actually reverses some of the osteo...my next Dexscan in December will tell all.

So far the changes are all good and yet I feel that more is on the way.

I have been on HRT for 4 months now and I maintaining my body weight, around 160 lbs.  I am not sure how, because my face is much thinner now and my chin bones are visible. *Thrilled*
My waist is thinner.  I still done have much on top, which I am not happy about, but that is in the hands of the Goddess.  But they are getting bigger. Nothing on the hips or butt.

My general build is slight.  In fact some people think I am too thin, for 5' 10".  I don't care I am hoping that I will get a more feminine figure.

You'll change a lot on HRT. I know I have with two years of HRT.
