Honesty

I had a chance to be honest this afternoon, and I muffed it. I drove over to a nearby town to buy some makeup and nail polish and stuff. The young woman at the Walgreen's makeup counter helped me find a couple of things. I only asked about how to find the innocuous stuff — the cold cream, the Q-Tips. Didn't ask where the brown mascara was, or whether "8-hour" eye shadow would stain my eyelids. But I ended up with some lipstick in my basket, and some foundation and powder.
When I was ready to check out, she said,
"Are you buying these for somebody?"
