I'm not a Catholic, nor even an ex-Catholic. But I've been mulling over the anti-gay comments served up in March by Bishop Joseph Devine of Scotland. You can read the story on
LifeSiteNews.com, a Catholic site. His hate-filled spewing was not, I'm sure, atypical of the views of influential Catholics.
Briefly, tenuously, I remembered what it was like to be a small boy. I remembered feeling awkward, feeling that I didn't fit in, feeling that there was something about being a boy that I didn't understand. I wasn't getting it. I was searching for clues.
